min min error

I am running Windows XP and a couple days ago started getting an error at shutdown. The error says "Win Min". I have also noted that each time my computer shuts down now, my homepage on IE6 has been changed to one of the "nonpopular" search engines. I am also getting adult-oriented popups and with numerous others and websites are being automatically added to my Favorites

I cureently use Norton Anti-virus and have scanned the system twice, as well as cookie cleanups and so on. I also use Spybot and have scanned the system repeatedly deleting off and immunizing everything I find. I have tried everything I can think of including disk defrags and system checks

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what has worked to get rid of it. Any other advice also welcome.
