i have been extending the lifespan of my current computer beyond industry standards. i currently have a system utilizing a 350mhz amd processor. i am contemplating retiring my system and getting a new one configured to my specs. if the new system only has a formatted drive (no os) can i migrate my xp pro (which was an upgrade version i purchased) to the new system's formatted drive? i have been extremely pleased with the xp pro os since i upgraded from windows me which was nothing but a tangle of glitches...

Yes you can - if you have the ME cd, as you will need it to prove
eligiblility. If you no longer have the ME disc, you will need to purchase
the full version. When you use an upgrade, the licence you use as a QP
becomes 'assimilated' into the XP licence (think of it as two halves of a
whole) and the two become inseperable.
