XP Professional
Updating MediaPlayer, and using window update I get the messagee that "The
procedure entry point getUIMS could not be found in the dynamic link library
MSDART.DLL"
This msg refuses to go away even with TaskManager, and the update cycles
through the registry update endlessly.
What do I do next?
To retrieve the Windows Update Icon which has gone off
and avoid this DLL issue.

Have you tried replacing the msdart.dll with another copy? Open Windows
Explorer and go to: C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 > right-click
msdart.dll and 'Copy' > go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 > right-click and 'Paste',
answer yes to replace file.
