I just recently got a SB Live! soundcard with a midi gameport installed at
the back of my computer, and I have a my Yamaha PSR-273 plugged in. The
problem is, I do not see the gameport listed in any MIDI device list, sich as
MusicTime Deluxe and the Sound applet in the Control Panel.

I have Windows XP Home SP2

Can anybody help me??

Mine has a MIDI entry- in fact 2 ,1 for inboard sound & 1
for my ESS Soundcard. See my DM @

If u dont have 1 then as far as ur PC is concerned u dont
have MIDI installed.

Perhaps it was disabled when u disabled SB Live. Try
enabling it. If Realtek is ur onboard sound, u must
disable it on the MOBO or in the Device Manager b4 SB Live
will work.

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

|ok, Realtek is my on-board soundcard, and I only plan on using the SB Live!
|card for MIDI. The SB card is like the one in

|but it also has a midi gameport on the back.
" midi gameport" is confusing. I think u have gameports
& MIDI synthesisers that generate sounds via some
gizmos on ur sound card. Why u dont have a MIDI entry
for Realtek I dont know. I have 2 since I have onboard
sound & ESS sound card. Disabling onboard sound in DM
did NOT disable the onboard MIDI entry.

I dont use my PC for music so I dont know much about
it. I do know that Malke & Kelly know far more than I
so I suggest u follow their advise. I was getting Code
12's in DM & learned just enuf or got lucky enuf to fix
it!!
