Microtek ScanWizard 2.6 won't work with new installation

I have a ScanMaker X6 scanner and a new computer running Windows XP. I
installed ScanWizard 2.6. I can use the scanner using WIA software
from Office applications and PhotoImpact. However, I would like to use
the many scanning controls found in ScanWizard and not in WIA. When I
select "Microtek ScanWizard (32bit)" for the scanner source in
PhotoImpact,I get error messages "Reinstall ScanWizard" and "TWAIN
error T009 and T021". Reinstalling doesn't solve the problem. Has
anyone else had this problem or know a solution to getting ScanWizard
to operate? In C:Windows\TWAIN_32\Scanwiz there is an application
Scanwiz. I sometimes get an error about no TWAIN_32.dll in Windows
folder but the file is there.

Would the scanner work with the newer version of ScanWizard? I can't even
find that particular scanner listed on Microtek's site.

I have a ScanMaker 5600 that I hated under Win98se. It works great under XP,
and the ScanWizard 5 program is so much faster with XP.

Thanks Melissa,
The scanner is under the "discontinued products" listing. The Microtek
website lists version 2.60 as the correct version for Windows 2000 and
XP so I assume a newer version would probably not work. I'm Glad to
hear you are having success with ScanWizard and XP.
