I'm considering buying a Microtek i800 and some of the reviews
mentioned that the unit is a bit slow in scanning. Most of the time
this will be used for casual copying/scanning. So, if it takes a
minute for each of the scans when I am just trying to copy some
homework for the kids it may not be an appropriate machine.

Can anyone tell me how fast this scanner is for casual use?

TIA

I bought a i800 and returned it because it took more than 1 min to
calibrate itself before each scanning pass..

May I ask what you ended up with and how happy you are with it?
