i have been unable to open microsoft works, i get a message to reload works
but all i have is e-machine restore cd's
do i hav to do a full restore or is there some way of getting works without
full restore

Try the Works newsgroup.

The best place to ask this question is the vendor.. in this case, whoever
sold you the E Machine..

You might also try running the CD containing MS Works.. place it in the CD
drive, and EXPLORE it.. look for a folder called Works maybe, open it up and
see if there is a 'setup' icon.. the CD may even auto start and give
instructions on what to do next..

If you want to use MS Works, then buy the CD.

I have purchased a new computer with XP on it. I thought I could move my
files from my old computer. However the old was not Xp. Can I get the program
Microsoft Works downloaded onto my new computer?

Unless you bought a retail copy of Works in the first place, you will
need to buy another copy that will be licensed to the new PC.

not legally available to be downloaded for free anywhere.
