Microsoft Works/MS Word on HP Pavilion

Zhanna

Hi-

Just bought HP Pavilion Notebook, and downloaded MS Works with MS Word,
Excel, Access, etc. However, as soon as I start typing in Word, the
screen starts "jumping" up and down as if the PC had a virus. I spoke
to HP support, they said since Excel works fine, it must be the Word
problem, suggested to uninstall the MS Works. I unisntalled and
installed it again a few times, however, the problem keeps occurring.
I am not sure if I should bring the Notebook back at this point, or
not.

Any suggestions? Thanks...

Open Windows XP's "Help and Support Center" and type: TEXT SERVICES ,
and hit enter.
Then click on "Turn text services off or on".
You need to turn-off text services.

Thanks, I tried it but unfortunately the problem continues. As I type
the text screen keeps "jumping" up and down, perhaps not as much, but
still does.

Actually, it's not doing it less, it's just as frequent. I am wondering
if I should bring back to the store. We used the software before on
many computers and it worked fine.

Thanks.

Perhaps you are hitting the touchpad as you type. Many laptops have a
button to disable the touchpad while you're typing. If you don't have a
button, perhaps there are options for the touchpad in the Mouse applet
(Control Panel).

Hi Zhanna,

If what you are saying, is that where your typing text moves around,
it is not a flaw with Microsoft Word at all.

What you are describing is a problem that people have with laptops
that is cured very easily. What is happening is that the balls of
your thumb are hitting the touchpad, and your touchpad is reading
the light touch as a click.

All you need to do is go into your mouse properties, and turn
tapping off. You will have to use the touchpad button to click, but
you will no longer have to worry about a bouncing cursor.
