I have data stored on floppy disks that was complied and
stored using Version 2 of MicrosoftWord.
How can I down load this data to my Windows XP Home
Edieion so that I can use the Word Procssor Program in
the home Edition.

Try using WordPad that comes with XP. It opens Word 2000 documents.

Copy the files from floppy to the hard disk on your new computer. Do
not try to work with them directly on the floppy disks.

The program "wordpad" included with XP can probably open Word for
Windows (as it was called then) Version 2.0 (by the way ... I think that
was the best version ever released ... a great writing tool).

If "wordpad" can't read them, then try getting the Word Viewer program,
free from Microsoft on their download web site. Will let you view the
files.

Of course, you can buy the contemporary version of Word (Word 2003) and
open the files there.

If you prefer not to by software, the free word processor in Open Office
(www.openoffice.org) and Abiword (http://www.abisource.com/) can open
and edit these files.

Again: copy files from floppy to hard disk before working on them.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
