You'll need your original Microsoft Word installation CD
and Product Key in order to reinstall Microsoft Word.

That would have no affect, anyway. System Restore preserves system
files, not applications.

and i lost my windows CD that i had when i bought my computer.

Again, not relevant. Neither the Microsoft Office application suite,
nor any of its individual component applications (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any*
Windows operating system. They are, and always have been, separate
applications, that must be purchased and installed separately.

can someone help?

Simply re-install Word using the installation CD from which you
originally installed it. (If it came pre-installed when you purchased
the computer, the CD should be stored with the other CDs and the
documentation that came with the computer.)

Why not download Open Office? It's free and it saves out in MS Word form

True...

and
it is just as good...

That depends upon the feature set needed. OpenOffice, while certainly
capable enough for most people's basic needs, is not nearly as
feature-rich as Microsoft Office.

System Restore would not have helped; it is not a backup program.

If you do not have a magic wand; and have lost the original disc, then you
will have to buy office again.

Perhaps you will be a little more careful in the future, in what you delete
and with the care you give your installation disks.

OpenOffice makes a dog's breakfast out of some Word documents, so may
not be appropriate if compatibility with existing documents is critical.
