Microsoft Word won't open

I have ME operating system. I was able to open Microsoft Word and create
documents, but now it won't open. It looks like it is, but it never does.
It's in a continuous loop or something. I can open documents with Word View.
What happened and how can I fix problem? I've tried uninstalling Word and
reinstalling, but that hasn't helped. I'm not sure what else to do. I don't
want to lose the documents I already have. Any suggestions/ideas appreciated.
