the cursor jumps around when I am typing leading to very confused sentences
at times. Has anyone else experienced this, are there any solutions? I have
wondered if I am inadvertently triggering a keyboard shortcut. The phenomenon
has occurred three times while typing this

This is often a result of an over-sensitive touch-pad on your laptop.
Somewhere in the laptop there's probably a way to decrease its
sensitivity or to turn it off when a mouse is plugged in.
