Greetings,
For some unknown reason my Microsoft Word 2003 freezes on me when I try to
save a document to finally tell me it's not responding.

Does this happen with a particular document, only, or with any document?

If it's with a particular document, copy its contents to the clipboard,
except for the final paragraph mark, and then paste it into a newly created
document.

To show/hide paragraph marks (¶) as well as other nonprinting marks, you can
press Ctrl+Shift+8.
