Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1 locks up on start up

My words program stall's as soon as it hits the opening screen, then pops up
low rescorses with wich I have plenty of room on my computer.
I then have to reboot because all my buttons on the computer ore
wothless...any Ideas? this is Word 2000 SR1
