Hi Blueberries

instead of -- what? What are you expecting to happen when clicking the
hyperlink?

When you click on a Mailto hyperlink, you expect your default mail client to
open with a message addressed to the email address in the link.

Hi Suzanne
When you click on a Mailto hyperlink, you expect your default mail client to
open with a message addressed to the email address in the link.

That's what we both expect -- and the email message will be empty. I
just wanted to make sure the OP is not looking for something more
(sending document back as an attachment, for instance).

Anyway, I can reproduce the behaviour in Word 2000 (didn't try anywhere
else). Can't find any explanation or even an acknowledgement at
microsoft.com. The problem is reported occasionally in Usenet, and the
(not so surprising) workaround is to convert the textbox to a frame.
