Hi I would like to download the Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware my query is.

I already have spybot and adaware installed on my pc
neither are the latest version.

Do you think I should have to uninstall them before I
download the Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware or would it be
ok to leave them on my pc and just download the microsoft
spyware.

Thank you for any help given

Hi

You need them all ! At least MSAS and one more, I recommend
Adaware.

No 1 and 4

Then install MSAS for realtime protection.

And clean out ALL temporarily junk with this tool

I agree with Plun, MSAS is still in beta, so it is best use additional
antispyware utilities in tandem.

Well, I do not agree with you about your statement about Beta.

We will need at least 2 program for spyware detection for a
long, long time even
when MSAS is in production. I´m sure about this 100%.

I'm not so sure. Do you use more than one antivirus?

In fact, I do--but only occasionally. I keep one (it varies, presently
f-secure) running regularly, and use online scans from others on
occasion--both to keep up with how the online scanners are doing, and to
double-check.

I personally think the protections of Microsoft Antispyware will become part
of the OS or the browser, and that eventually there won't be a separate
application--but that'll take a while.

No, viral attacks and scanning/removal engines are more
complicated.

For time being I think at least two antispys are needed

I´m sure that MS only gives us a "basic shield" againts
spys, it takes to much
resources for them to maintan a "state of the art" product.
Maybe if you pay MS for this they will do a 99.9% product
but I don´t think
MS wants this.

We also have a risk with rootkits and a new mix with viral
infections in spyware and this can totally change this
situation and perhaps we only will have one
antispy/antivirus product.

We have also a major risk that people working in
antispy/antivirus industri with real knowledge goes to
spyware industri instead if they loose their job and this
beacuse of MS.

You mean there is a conspiracy between the Antivirus/AntiSpyware people and
the people who develop spyware and viruses?

Not a conspiracy theory ! but if MS takes all market for
this you will
have hundreds of unemployd people with really high skills
to place malware
within Windows and IE.............. People must live and
earn money and they also probably
dislike MS !?!

Pehaps if MS bought all of them nothing happens...... ;)

I doubt that very many antispyware folks are going to switch sides.

Well, I´m not talking only about spyware, we don´t know how
MS are going to do with antivirus programs ?!

Interresting situation any way.........

It is interesting--I don't think Microsoft is going to drive the antivirus
vendors out of business, but I do hope that they will make the OS safer
against them. And they will make some entry into this market later this
year--we'll see what it is like.

We have to understand that things such as Antivirus and AntiSpyware would
eventually have to become a part of the OS. Did you know that people use to
buy TCP/IP Stacks and browsers? Who would have though years later that would
become a fundamental part of the os?

I sure do remember those days. Before Windows95, a TCP/IP suite used to
cost considerably more than the OS did. I'm thrilled with what Microsoft
did to make every machine fully capable of connecting to the Internet.

Most, if not all of those IP suite vendors are still around as far as I can
see. Maybe the antivirus vendors will need to make certain their products
have a wider base--linux, mac, etc---to insure long-term survival.

I had the same issue
no need to delete the other first
I down loaded MS spyware beta 1 as you want to and it
works fine with the other spyware, I have them as well
and run them all as they catch some things that other
don't
you need to set the update time though as it defalts to
2.00am and so you need the machine on at that time or
change the time
