Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Error

Most of the time when I try to start IE, this error
message comes up "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library X
RuntimeErrorProgram:C:\ProgramFiles|InternetExplorer\iexpl
ore.exe."This application has requested the Runtime to
terminate it in an unusual way."and closes IE. I have
WinXP and I have tried to redownload MSN IE but I seem to
have a version that is later than the redownload on the
download page, so it won't let me redownload. I can use
msn explorer, although that is a pretty lame program. I
would be grateful for any suggestions.

Is the exact work "unsusual" or "abnormal"
