Microsoft Virtual Machine update problems

H

Howard N

Yesterday, Microsoft automatically updated my OS from VM
build # 5.00.3805 to 5.0.3810.10, and now internet
applications do not see it. Half of the games on Real
Arcade require it, and now they won't operate.

Anybody else having problems?

Howard, I assume you are talking about he Java VM, this has not been
updated for several years and only security fixes approved by Sun are sent
out. This is just part of the settlement with Sun over Java. I suggest as
such you may want to get the latest Java VM from Sun and run that instead
of the Microsoft version.

Curtis,

The 3810 release is a valid update, for security reasons, for those who did get the JVM from Microsoft when Windows XP was first released. The 3805 version was not included, but could be downloaded from Windows Update, and other Microsoft links. If they managed to obtain 3805, before the injunction went into effect, then 3810 is a valid update for them.

Howard,

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, and restore your system to a date prior to installing the 3810 patch.

You can go to this link for instructions on removing the MS JVM, but I do not know if it will remove it completely or revert back to the 3805 release.
