microsoft security update destroyed my system

After hearing of the security holes in microsoft products
I went to the microsoft website and download the security
patches.

Now, my computer allows me to choose a user, but it will
not continue the desktop. It gets stuck. Has anyone
else had this problem?

I tried system restore, but it doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Uninstall the security patch which caused the problem. Go to Control
Panel, Add Remove Programs, highlight the patch, click uninstall.
