.mix 1. Power C Object file.
2. Command and Conquer combined picture and sound
file.
3. PhotoDraw picture file.

4. Microsoft Picture IT! picture file. This format is
no longer supported by Microsoft.
Microsoft Word 2002 (Office XP) or Word 2000 can
display .MIX files, although you may have to install the
"Microsoft picture it/Kodak FlashPix filter". It should then
be possible to save it as another type of file or to copy it
from word and paste it into something else.
For Word 97 the "Kodak FlashPix/Microsoft Picture It!"
filter is hidden away in the "Valupack" folder on the Word
installation cd (but only on the service release 1 cd), to
install run <CD>:\ValuPack\FlashPix\FPXFLT32.exe.
Some versions of Coral Draw reportedly can open .MIX
files.
Unfortunatly Microsoft appears to have produced more
than one version of .MIX file, so the above may work form
some .MIX files but not others.

in message | MS uses that file type .mix with PictureIt and PhotoDraw,
it
| is a multi-layer format. You could try to open the .mix
| file with Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, IRFANVIEW
| (free) and if it opens , then those programs could convert
| it to another format.
| I don't see .mix as a format that those programs will
"save
| as" but they do support multi-layer formats so might be
able
| to open .mix files.
| If you have the PhotoDraw program, it should install on
your
| XP computer and you could use it to convert the files as
| needed. I haven't used PhotoDraw, it might have a "batch
| converter" which would save time.

| | | Sorry, if I am in the wrong newsgroup - We purchased new
| | computer with Windows XP, and Microsoft products. On
| | Windows '98, which we had we created files in Microsoft
| | PhotoDraw, well, of course, any of the microsoft
products
| | will not now bring up a .MIX file extension file since
| | that is the extension is was given originally. How do I
| | convert .MIX to something like .jpeg, or.jpg, or .gif or
| | something simple so one of the programs like Adobe photo
| | deluxe will open that file?? Again, sorry if I am in
the
| | wrong newsgroup, please refer me elsewhere if I am in
the
| | wrong place.
