Just bought a new computer and the store told me that I
had to install a Sasser & Blaster worm update for $25.00.
Can I get those patches online?

Your first priority should be to enable XP's firewall:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/

Afterward, visit the official Windows Update website and
scan your new computer for new updates and install them.

Yes, those are Critical Windows Updates and available for free.
If the store told you $25, my suggestion is NOT to rely on them for
ANYTHING technical related to the computer.
They obviously know LESS than you.

You want to IMMEDIATELY install/enable a firewall BEFORE connecting to
the internet:

Then install ALL Critical Updates from Windows Updates:
Start/All Programs/Windows Update.
