Microsoft Office XP Professional (2002)

My home PC is working under Windows Vista Home Basic and is equipped with
Microsoft Office XP Professional (2002).

As released on 18 June, there is "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for
Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats" (see Knowledge Base article
924074).

I am not sure if the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack is applicable to my
existing copy of Microsoft Office XP Professional (2002), in addition to its
Standard Edition as highlighted.

Will you please let me have any expert advice, if available?

I have MS Office 2003 Professional and received the same
download to my system, (ages ago). I believe, others may correct
me, but it is an upgrade for your XP Pro version to be able to read
later versions of Word. Excel etc.
It hasn't done my system any harm.
I will stand corrected if someone with more knowledge
admonishes me !

Yes, you can use the Compatibility Pack with any edition of Office XP -
Standard or Professional.

I think the reson they say "Standard" is that the Pack does not contain
converters for Access (which was not in the Standard Edition). But exactly
the same file re used for Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Hope it helps,
