Microsoft Office XP Pro Outlook 2002

Can someone please help..

I do not use outlook for mail but I use it for Contact data & Calender
Initially I noticed it would not save appointments or events.

Then Outlook decided not to open, not even in safe mode? I have tried
repair and have uninstalled & re-installed Microsoft Office from disc, but
still it will not open?

I am not a tech, so if anyone can help, I would appreciate layman's language

Is that win safe mode or OL safe start?

Have you used the inbox repair tool scanpst.exe?
Use search if you cannot locate it, to include hidden files.
 
Thank you! Problem solved. I checked with scanpst & inbox repair it said
there were no corrupt files. I then did a register clean, Then on reboot it
did a scan using the Microsoft office repair utility. It then asked me to
load the Micro soft Office XP disc which started a re configure. When this
completed I was able to get into Outlook again!! And I had not lost any data.
