Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem when shutting down

everytime i go to close a word document, it encounters a problem and it tells
me it has to close and restart. i dont know what caused this. any help is
appreciated. thanks in advance.

think you might be better off writing to a Word News Group.

And they'll probably want a little more detail: like version of Windows,
version of Word, patches and/or Service Packs applied. Has this always
happened ? Is it something recent ? What has changed between the time it
worked and the time it didn't ? If you close and restart Windows as per the
instruction, can you then close a document ? It's a process of trial and
elimination I'm afraid.
