You need to reinstall Office & Outlook, then open Outlook and use the menu:
File, Open, Outlook Data file to open your pst file. You need to reinstall
all your programs to work with Vista.

Hi Mary,

Programs should not have to be reinstalled after an upgrade. Selina's
problem is the location of the .pst file, they don't have the proper
permissions to access it. These need to be fixed, reinstalling the
application or importing the file will not be sufficient.

Hi Selina,

What is "c:/yadda yaddda\outlook.pst"? At some point in the file path, your
user account has insufficient permissions to access and execute the file.

Hi,

Certainly that is the problem. First, Vista doesn't use the "C:\Documents
and Settings" path, it uses C:\users. If this were a true upgrade, the file
should have been migrated to your new user account under this folder path.
You will need to go into the mail settings of Outlook and change the path to
your .pst file. Check under your new user profile to see if the file was
migrated properly. Failing that, you will need to locate the .pst file and
move it over to your profile. If you run into "access denied" while trying
to obtain it, we will have to take ownership of the housing folder by right
clicking it and changing the advanced security settings (I can help with
this if needed).
