Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2 has been released

After doing a simple update on my personal website using the newly updated
Frontpage 2003 SP2, it then gets stuck in load mode on the first page! All
I see is a blank page and the MS Falg waving. I am not impressed.

No problems noted here. Although it did shut down my local server...forgot
to reboot after upgrading...everything fine after reboot..so far.

BTW, I recommend *not* to use the Office Update or Automatic Update, but to
download and install the Full File version.

I did have trouble updating .NET Framework Service Paks. They'll dl but balk
on installing. Anyone else experience this? Tried it twice, no go.

I have had no problems. But, I always manually download the full version

Hmmm. I'll try it that way later. It was trying to do 1.0 & 1.1 at the same
time, maybe that was why...haven't had time to try them separately

Tom, I used Microsoft Update to automatically update my
XP Home system. Where do you find the full version of SPs
to manually update service packs? Now that my system is
upgraded through SP2, it's impossible (or nearly so) to
delete them. I'd just like know where the full versions are
located in the case SP3 becomes available in the future. Thanks.

I dunno much abt Framework... does something have to be shut down to allow
the update to install ? If I go back to the update site, it tells me the
updates are already downloaded but not installed yet. Two of them 1.0 & 1.1
service paks - on same machine

You shouldn't have to do anything prior to installing the updates.

Thanks, Tom. I'll check Office site from now on. Had
trusted Microsoft Update to provide me with all updates.

Joe: The full downloads are not always available at the same time as the
Windows Update - Microsoft Update - Office Update. But, I find using the
full version from a download (first download it to your pc before
installing) causes much less problem. I have never installed any service
pack for any software from an update situation. And, in all of our work
pcs, plus my pcs, never have had an issue.

U

Uncle Joe

Tom, I followed the link you provided and downloaded
the full 50MB Office 2003 SP2. Opened and launched
it. It stopped twice at about ten minutes into the install.

Switched gears and accessed Microsoft Update. It
identified SP2 as a critical update. I chose to try using
Microsoft Update to apply SP2. It launched, downloaded
to some unknown folder, and installed. It was slow at
about 25 minutes but the install ran successfully. So
my Word and FrontPage 2003 apps are now upgraded to
SP2. My other Office apps are all Office 2000 Pro.

Thanks for your advice.
