Hi

Having a major problem installing Microsoft .net FRAMEWORK (dotnetfx.exe)
Version 1.1

Im using windows xp professional and when your run the above executable the
installation starts it gets to the stage where it is extracting the files
from the windows installer pacakge then appears with the below message.

Error 1304.Error writing to file: Microsoft.Vsa.dll. Verify that you have
access to that directory.

RETRY or Cancel.

Retry repeats message and cancel quits the install.

Anyone help?

Am logged into xp as administrator, and also tried running msconfig and
disabling all stratup and services(apart from windows installer service as
its required by dotnetfx installer!).

Still no luck..

Anyone else experience such a problem?

Cheers

Do you have a previous version of 1.1 installed, perhaps one that screwed up
when uninstalling? If you check out the GAC (browse to it using Windows
Explorer, Windows\Assembly), is the file in question there and if so, can
you remove it?

Dont recall installing previous version.

Have had a look for the c:\windows\assembly folder and dont appear to have
one?

Any further ideas?

Many Thanks

Hmm, guess that since you're trying to install, you can delete the folder
containing the 1.1 framework, if it exists. Do you have the
\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 folder?

Hi

Thanks for taking time to reply, hopefully sort this problem out eventually
without having to reinstall xp!

Had a look for the below mentioned directory and that doesn't exist either.

Cheers
