Microsoft Movie Maker 5.1

Now that I am starting to use video cliips in my Windows XP SP2 Microsoft
Movie Maker 5.1 program, I am having trouble playing the timeline with
certain clips inserted. I can't find a common thread concerning the clips.
Most of them are Windows Media Player file types. It seems that none of the
Media Player video clips made from my Sony DSC-H1 digital camera will work so
far. They all play the first time I start the timeline, however, when I stop
the timeline, and then start it again, only some of them will let Movie Maker
play the video and audio. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any tips.

They are WMV files or some other extension?

Are they actually captured with Windows Movie Maker or is the camcorder one
that records on a mini DVD or hard drive and therefore in another format?

Cari,

My camera is primarily a digital still camera. After reading more about the
specs for the camera, it seems the 30fps video is being outputted in mpeg1
format. Maybe therein lies my problem...compatibility issues? To answer your
question, I download the video onto my computer, where it gets saved as a
Windows Media Player wmv format...I think. Would a video converter program
help, do you think? Thanks for your response.

Windows Movie Maker doesn't really like MPEG files. You might want to try
another video editing program.

If you have Nero 6 or 7 or Roxio 7 or 8, both have good video editing
applications in them.

Thanks Cari,

Can Nero or Roxio do the timeline with music and text like Windows
MovieMaker? I'm not opposed to using a more sophisticated editor, and in
fact, would prefer it, as long as I can merge the different media.
