Microsoft Management Console

When I get done defragmenting my hard drive and close the program I get an error message that says Microsoft Management Console has encountered an error and needs to close. I only get this message sometimes. Can someone please tell me if they know what causes this. Thank you.

Seriously, without more information that's like calling a car mechanic on
the phone and asking why your car makes a banging noise sometimes.

You could give us some specs. on your system. What O/S (home or pro.)?
What processor? What RAM? What hard drive/size? etc. etc. etc.

I am operating with Windows xp pro, 1.4 centrino processor, a 30gb hard drive with 256 memory. I am in the middle with knowledge about computers, this is a dumb question but is it normal to receive error messages with computers? I have received the Microsoft Management Console error 3 times and haven't received it in the last two days. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, it is somewhat normal to get occassional error messages and
conflicts.

The next important question that we'd need to have answered is, can you
duplicate the problem. If you can, then tell us what you did to duplicate
it. If you can't, then you'll need to wait until it happens again and when
it does, try to record what you were doing at the time.

You should also look at your system event logs, they may shed light on the
problem.

I did look in the event log and all that was listed was Source: Service Control Manager Event ID: 1000 and it said that the program crashed and closed unexpectedly. Could this have happened by me closing out the program to fast? Thank you again for all of your help.

It's really hard to say. Unless it is happening on a somewhat frequent
basis, I wouldn't worry about it.
