When starting XP SP1 after waiting a few minutes, an error screen appears
stating that the microsoft management console has encountered an error will
be shutdown. At first this was happeing when trying to access a folder
inside a file that I recently downloaded. After the MMC crashed, when I
tried to open the folder again, I received memory access errors. I submitted
the error report that was generated. What is going on with MMC crashing and
with the memory access errors that I get after the MMC crashes? What is the
MMC and is it needed for XP home users?

Check Device Manager for devices/drivers flagged with a yellow question
mark.
Check Event Viewer for errors flagged with a red X. (Start > Run >
evenvwr.msc)

Run System File Checker.
Insert your XP CD-ROM and close if it autoplays
Start > Run and type
sfc /scannow
click OK

ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.1217, fault address 0x000085c0.

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module ,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

This is happening everytime I open a particular folder.
