One care stated that an update is neccesary but wont let me install it? It
says windows one care was unable to update? Subsequently my virus alert state
is now red. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

You got ripped off. Even Kaspersky isn't that much and they're the best
and you get a firewall with it.

Remember, we're talking Microsoft now.

Eat the 40 quid and get a decent anti virus. Avast is my favorite and
it's free. http://www.avast.com/

cheers Malke seems we're all having the same problem hope microsoft fixes
soon.

And, in the meantime, have fun with the viruses that No Care can't flag
due to not being up-to-date. I got three updates from Avast! yesterday
and one today. You didn't get these definitions because One Care DOESN'T
CARE!

Course, I bet you didn't have any problem uploading the money to them,
now did you?

I also use microsoft live onecare and it works great for me, I love the 24
hour support and the customer service provided.

I also had same problem, so if you contact the support they can walk you
through the fix or you can let them do remote access to fix problem for you.

I have been using product since came on the market and after initial fix I
have had no problems and have not gotten any viruses or spyware.

How do you know you have not gotten any malware? Because OneCare tells you
so?

I know because I do check my system with other programs obtained from
www.majorgeeks.com and cnet.com and pc world.com and have yet to get a virus
or malware. and I am on the net several hours a day....everyday!

I have also tried most of the programs out there such as AVG, Norton,
Mcafee, spybot and many others.

when I used Norton and Mcafee I had gotten Viruses and other headaches I
might add and since I've used Live one Care haven't gotten a single one and I
do follow up and still check with nortons and mcafee etc.. and they are
finding nothing, so my opinion Live One Care works like it should.

I DON'T use it, and I haven't gotten any viruses or spyware either.

Yup, sounds like you have a fairly good database to support your claim.
Though as you say, I wouldn't consider Norton or McAfee to be good
cross-checks.

Still, AFAIK, One Care resides well down the list when it comes to malware
it has in it's defs. Note that if One Care or any other AV isn't alerting
you to an intrusion, what that tells me is that you are employing safe hex,
not that your AV is good. The fair test is to deliberately allow malware in
and see what the AV does with it.

I purchased a Vista four months ago. After three months, Windows One-Care
starting prompting me to install my purchased program. I didn't install it,
and now when I go online to try to install it, I can get past the Windows
Sign On screen, then it goes to a blank screen and won't connect me with the
online service to install. I have tried going to Microsoft but can't get a
"live" person. Really, someone at Microsoft should be coming up with a
problem. My computer is now undefended. Someone help!

Strange - I searched for "VISTA Windows Live One-Care" to access the correct
group and it gave me this group. Where does a person go for a Vista Windows
Live One-Care group.
