Microsoft lifecam 3000 on Windows XP

I've installed it, but every time I turn on computer and try to use lifecam,
I get the message "Plug your LifeCam webcam into a USB port and then
adjust...."

But it IS plugged into a USB port. I can alway get it to work by unplugging
it, and then plugging it back in (to the same USB port). How can I get the
thing to work properly?

Dear Andrew,
I've downloaded 'latest software' for the lifecam 3000 and have tried to
run it. When I do, it gets into a sort of loop. It starts replacing files,
each time asking me whether it should. (There's no way to say 'replace all'.)
Furthermore, after a while it starts re-replacing the files it has 'replaced'
before. The process never ends. I downoloaded the update twice, and both
times got the same result.
This is all very frustrating. Doesn't microsoft try out their fixes
before letting their customers download them?
Any other suggestions?
Monty
