Microsoft jet base

F

Frank

I am using Access at work & at home. The Access files at
work use security & acess work group.

Recently, I brought home a database file from work &
tried to update on my home system. I installed the user
workgroup administrator file & the workgroup.mdw file and
the datbase.mdb file.

I get a message, the system cannot open the microsoft jet
engine workgroup information file. I get this message
not only trying to open the file from work -but now my
home files will not open either!

I have down loaded the latest version of the jet engine
from the web, but still get the message.

What am I doing wrong?

Got work to do at home....

Hi, Frank.
Recently, I brought home a database file from work &
tried to update on my home system. I installed the user
workgroup administrator file & the workgroup.mdw file and
the datbase.mdb file.

You didn't need to install another copy of the Workgroup Administrator
application, since it was already installed on your computer when you
installed Access.
I get a message, the system cannot open the microsoft jet
engine workgroup information file.

Did you copy these files to a CD, then copy the files from the CD to your
computer, and is your current operating system _not_ Windows XP? If so,
then remove the "Read only" attributes on these files so that Access can use
them.

HTH.
