microsoft exchange server unavailable

when i installed office 2003 on my new computer i get message "outlook could
not log on. check to make sure you are connected to the network....Microsoft
Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to
complete this action" I am connected to the internet at the time but it
doesn't seem to be recognized by outlook. When I installed on my previous
computer didn't have this problem. I've set up both computers side by side
and can't seem to find the setting I need to fix.

Go to the mail applet in the control panel then Email Accounts. At this
point, you can define/remove/edit POP3/IMAP/Exchange accounts. (or if you
are feeling really naughty, use the show profiles button instead and remove
your mail profile. Use the Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard on other
machine to create a backup of your Office settings and then bring it over to
the new one to restore via the Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard.)

PS - The save my settings wizard doesn't copy of PST files by default. So
if working with POP3/IMAP accounts, you need to keep this in mind.
