microsoft cannot locate attachments

O

Oz

I am using Vista Premium Home addition and Outlook Home and Student edition.

When I attach a word document to an e-mail, the receiver cannot open the
document.

The error message: " windows cannot fine C:\xx\documents\file, make sure you
typed the name correctly and try again."

What I think is happening the attachment is not being inserted.

It is bad practice to open documents directly from e-mails (which frequently
results in data loss) and an inability to do so suggests a file association
error on the PC used to try and do so. If the recipients save the attachment
to the hard drive, can they then open the document from Word? If so point
them to

First see how to re-register Word when problems crop up opening files
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm and if that doesn't
fix it select a document in Windows Explorer, right click and choose Open
with...

From the ensuing dialog select Word (winword.exe) and check the box to
always open with this application.
