I thought I had backed up my files using microsoft backup but when I try to restore them only the folders return. The contents are empty.

Suggestions gratefully recieved.

Perhaps I should post more about my problem.

I am using Windows 2000 (the best windows? XP does not seem to offer advantages to me and it seems much more reliable than w98) and I used Microsoft Backup scheduled to backup twice a week. I thought that all was well

I use a portable hard disk drive to share data between home and office and I was aware that it was not going to last forever. However since I use backup I thought I would loose only a couple of days worth of data.

My portable disk drive died. I managed to save most of my data before the data disappeared. But I missed some. I thought that I would be able to retrieve it from the backup I had made.

I selected a clean foldern in my c drive but it seems that the whole folder tree is restored up but none of the files. Or very few of them.

Now then... there seems to be a versioning system and I can select whether I want to restore files that are newer but even selecting restore all files I still get the same problem

I have a new portable hard disk. If my problem was that I only backed up changed files then I want to make sure that I do not make the same mistake again.

Any suggestions

Tim
