Microsofr Word 2002 has gone asian like??

About 2 months ago I was using windows 98 and has work suite 2005 and
microsoft word was all normal and everything but I ended up losing it and
also we got a new comp so we re-brought it, but this time it is 2006, Before
I installed it everything was fine, and some of the sites I vist which now
are in korean/chinese were in english and readable, but since I installed
Worksuite 2006, and opened word, it's got stuff about asian layouts and alot
of the text is about chinese/korean and as said above the sites I visted are
now in korean/chinese. I have no idea why this is and I've uninstalled and
reinstalled about three times now hoping it would go away, also I've tryed
repair but nothing is working, it's just based on asian stuff, is this right
and how do I fix it so that I can read the sites and also so MS word is
normal agin? Thanks for the help it's apperciated.

One more question, when I open MS word there are for brackets, sort of like
this [ in each corner of the page and I have no idea how to get rid of them,
I've taken a prnt screen if you would like to see what I mean, Could you
help me with this ? Thanks again
