Microphone not working

A friend of mine downloaded the newest version of Messenger and now cannot
use his microphone. He has gone thru the Audio-Tuning wizard and it says
it's working OK. Also, the mic works UNTIL a voice conversation is started
.....then it quits.


Any suggestions -- or is there a way to complete UNINSTALL Messenger
so he could re-install a prior version.

We have had similar thought it was our pc's not messenger.
