Microphone Installation

I went to install a microphone on my computer and when I
went to the Control Panel, at the "SPEECH" Icon, there is
no Speech Recognition Tab.

Is there a way to resolve this problem?

I have the same problem as LW; can anyone help? (Also, see: "How can you setup a microphone without Speech Recognition installed") Thank you !!!
 
I don't have the speech recognition tab either (Windows XP Home) but I solved the problem by downloading the latest version of DirectX 9.0b and installing. That did the trick!
