I have been having trouble not being able to use my microphone. It is the type that plugs in the back of the computer. It was working OK in my earlier computer but with an up-graded motherboard and XP it has not been working

I tired doing a sound check, checked the drivers, looked on the motherboard site for appropriate drivers which XP said were incompatable. I have read the other posts here on mic problems and none other the suggestions were helpful or I had tried them

Can someone give me any direction on this problem

Is the microphone input muted?

Given that the "motherboard" was replaced, please verify that what you
are plugging into, is indeed a microphone jack. Look at the picture
layout of the "new" motherboard in the manual and verify the location of
the microphone port and then look in the case to see which hole lines up
with the jack.
