It appears to be in ordinary fonts at Alt 0181 (by itself it stands
for "micron" and is used for "micro-" throughout the metric system).
If you switch to Symbol font, Word won't recognize it if you change
fonts.
Ah, indeed, U00B5 is identified as "micro sign." Not that it really
significantly differs from mu.
