MFT/Hardrive problems

I 've been getting error messages on my 2nd hardrive regarding an MFT file
and 'Windows - delayed write error. windows was unable to save all the data
for the file D:\system volume information.
I was advised to turn off 'enable write caching'. What is turning off
enable write caching and has anyone else done this and what are your
experiences/problems when you do this?

Disk write caching is implemented on hard disks to enhance write
performance. However, acording to this article

Slow Disk Performance When Write Caching Is Enabled.
