Delayed write failure

This failure has happened many times.
I don't have a 3ware raid card.
I tried to change the registry to another setting as recommended and the
computer slowed down.
I tried to turn off write caching but now can't see the hard drive.

It said that G:$mft was deleted. Does that mean I can never get the data
drive to be seen or get my files from it?

Huh? - Is this a initial posting or a follow-up to an earlier one ?
There seems to be a good deal of context information missing.

Where did the message about the $MFT (Master File Table)
come from ( System Event Log ) ? Is G: your System partition?
Delayed Write failures can either be the drive or it's controller.
Registry changes - related to enable/disable the Write Cache ?

Which vendor/model drive and controller (type: IDE, SATA)
would be useful information.

New posting.
The $mft was deleted appears in a small error box when I start the drive or
on initial boot up or click on the drive letter in Explorer.
G: is a slave drive.
The registry changes were to change
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
Management according to Microsoft but this slowed down my system.
The controller card is Silicon Image.......Microsoft just says 3ware is
affected.
