MFC Application encountered a problem and will shut down

I am trying to install a software called Storyboard and
Cataloguing from NedGraphics onto a PC with Windows XP.
It installs and whenever I try to open the program, I get
an error that says the Storyboard and Cataloguing MFC
Application has encountered and problem and will shut
down. Does anyone know what this means or a way to fix it?

Make sure that your software is current for Win XP compatibility, as a first
step.

Yes the software is compatible with XP. The company that
makes the software uses it with an XP machine, but they
can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
