Methods?

Hello,

I created my first powerpoint presentation and want to put buttons to
navigate to and fro. The built in buttons are so dim they can't be noticed
by the user (based on the fact that I can't notice them). How can I find
out the VBA methods available in this program, for example in Access there
is a GoToRecord method which allows navigation. Does Powerpoint have a
similar method. Also would I need to place the button on each slide? I
just don't know how to get started with VBA.

Thank you for your help and God Bless,

Hi Mark

Good news, you don't need to use vba code to do this.
That's not good news. I'm use to doing things the way I want to do them.
Now my fate is in the hands of Microsoft. ;)
Type PowerPoint Navigation Buttons into Google and you should get plenty
of
tutorials.

I did and two posts said to find the Actions Buttons menu from the Slide
Show menu. This is Powerpoint 2007 and I can't find that item on the
ribbon. Is it possible that this functionality was discontinued?

It's a long, dark alley. Few who venture down it return unchanged.

Seriously, do you really *need* VBA for this?

Only because I am use to using it and figured one reason for it was to
control the slideshow.
If the problem is dim button
colors, why not change the colors?

I'm using a template, but for the heck of it I tried a background color and
it didn't help. The buttons don't appear until you mouse over them whici
seems counter productive. How would the user know they are there? Also
threre is a pen tool which allows the user to write on the picks. I don't
know yet is that could be hidden.

Select one, change the fill color.

Put the button on the slide master (or on each slide master if you have
several) and it'll appear on every slide.

There is a slide master? That was another question I had. I don't see an
option on the ribbon for Action Buttons.

God Bless,

Mark

I see from your other message that you found it.

It's an adventure, isn't it? ;-)

I did find out how to create a Master Slide, but not how to integrate it
into the slide show. So I think what I need to do is create a new slide
show, create the Master Slide, then import the slides to the new slideshow.
Does that sound resonable? Is there a method to import the slides or do I
need to copy and past them?

Thanks for your help.

Go to the sorter view of the already made presentation
Do Ctrl+A to select all of the slides and Ctrl+C to copy them
Go to the new presentation (which contains the master)/Sorter view/Ctrl+V to
paste your slides = less than a minute
Does that help?

*Why make things simple as they can be so complicated?*

I've done that already. I found out that I need to do them in small
batches, like 50 at a time or there will be problems in displaying the
thumbnails. I have almost 800 slides to transfer, but still not a big deal.
I'm just glad I don't have to do this for a living. ;)

No problem. But I'm confused ... we were talking about navigation and now
we're into creating slide masters and copying lots of slides into a new
show.

To put nav buttons on each slide you don't have to do this.

Or was I napping when we turned to a different question altogether? ;-)

I don't know how it turned to Nav buttons...lol. I think I went into it in
the course of the discussion. I don't understand what you meant, "To put
nav buttons on each slide you don't have to do this". Did you mean I don't
need to create a new slideshow and then copy and paste?

Well, we started with your:

If you choose View, Slide Master it'll take you to the slide master the
current slide is based on in a view where you can also navigate to the
other
slide masters.
That is what I needed. I have more questions, but will post them on new
messages.

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark
