messging interface problem

Whenever i try to delete any item be it from the inbox or outbox or
sent items, a window pops up saying " the messaging interface has
returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart outlook."
I have not only restarted outlook but also restarted my computer. But
the problem does not go away. Does anyone have any idea as to what is
this problem? and what is the solution of this problem? I use it at
work and because of it my work is being affected.

A quick response is highly appreciated.
