Hi,

Pre-SP1: Start/run, then copy/paste this command and click "ok":

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Post-SP1: Control Panel/Add & Remove/Windows Components, you should find
messenger listed here, just select it for removal.

Even post SP1 doesn't allow for this in Add/Remove, or Windows Components.
IF you go to Windows Components, you'll see it listed with "0 MBs" which
indicates it cannot be removed (note some components that do list the data
size, they can be removed, i.e. MSN Explorer for one)

The only way to make it show up, is to revise the "sysoc.inf" file in the
Windows/INF folder, by removing the "hide" attribute in the line listed for
Windows Messenger, then it can be removed through that method. I am unsure
whether it turns out that it can be removed in Add/Remove or Windows
Components, after making the attribute change.
