Do MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger use the same
messaging service? In other words, if I use XP's Windows
Messenger, can I send/receive instant messages from
someone who is using MSN Messenger?
 
No, They are two different things. You must download MSN
Messenger in order to communicate with someone else using
that service.
 
Yes you should be able to do this.
