Send popup message to another computer on my home network?

Is there a way for me to send a message to another computer on my home
network which will pop up a window and say something like, "Dinner's
Ready!" ?

The Messenger service is disabled with Service Pack 2. This is A Good
Thing for home machines. A better way to do what the OP wants would be
to use an Instant Messenger program - MSN, AIM, Yahoo, etc.
