Messenger problem

Help !!!!!
I oftern get the following message
Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inonvenience
If you were in the middle of something, the inform you were working on might be lost
Please tell Microsoft abot thei problem. We have created an error report....

This is done and still it keeps happening

What is happening? What do I need to do to correct things. Thanks
